The gala was an extravaganza never before matched. New technology and fresh ideas helped fill the room with a record breaking attendance. Once again, it made me so proud of our PBA staff who dedicated themselves to the huge success of this fitting event for our local heroes. The hours put into this project are truly incalculable. With Stephanie Womble and Blanca Torrents Greenwood at the helm, along with prominent assistance from Annette McCully, the event went off seamlessly.
I want to publically thank the PBA staff, and all the volunteers, for their hard work. From the magnificent Honor Guard contingent, to the amazing voice of Ann Jaramillo, who sang the national anthem in such an inspiring way that many cried, as she reached deep into their patriotic souls. Ann is the daughter of HPOA President, David Jaramillo.
And, I truly have no fitting words to describe the talent and hard work of video services, in particular Lizeth Barriel-Carrera and Johnny Tormey. Eight weeks before the gala, I had asked them to work with new, innovative, never before used technology. They tackled the project head-on and the results were jaw dropping.
The staff at the Trump resort was spectacular; better than ever! I can go on, and on, but this year was such a success that next year promises to break attendance records once again.
Finally, congratulations to all the honorees and award winners. You make us all proud.
Let us know
While the PBA has successfully completed numerous collective bargaining agreements throughout our many municipalities, we do have some coming up for renewal, as well as the county. We would love to hear your ideas or wish list (however you’d like to call it) as we move forward. As always, some administrations are easier, and more pleasant to deal with than others, but our resolve and commitment never changes. Please contact myself, or one of the attorneys working on your specific agreement if you have any questions.
4th of July
Fourth of July commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago in 1776 on July 4, by the Continental Congress. It is what has made the USA so great. And, while we have daily complex issues that divide citizens, it still remains the greatest country on the planet. Interestingly, oftentimes recent immigrants remark on how we take for granted simple freedoms that for them have become a human luxury. Enjoy the holiday with your loved ones and let’s be mindful of the awesome privilege of being an American.
With the great turnover rate that many departments are experiencing, it has opened many opportunities for promotions for the next generation of leaders. We send our well wishes and pray that every promoted individual never forgets where they came from.
